The Lord speaks to His people today, as He always has, by means of inspired 'words'. These may be spoken out as prophesies or through the twin gifts of tongues and interpretation but, since the beginning of the ministry at Bethesda, we have also been blessed to receive spiritual poems. These may be given out in the meetings or written down and shared later.
A selection are included here and more will be added as time goes by.
He moved the stone
He, He moved the stone,
He gave me a life that was new.
He, He moved the stone,
He did what no other could do.
He changed my heart,
He made it beat again
With a love so rich
And a joy that will remain.
He, He spoke my name,
He woke me as though from a sleep.
He, He spoke my name,
He led me, His lamb to His keep.
He spoke my name,
He caused my heart to soar
With the words He said
And the power He did outpour.
He, He took my hand,
He led me out into the light.
He, He took my hand,
Restoring to me my sight.
He took my hand,
He made my footsteps strong
With a peace so deep
And within my soul, a song.

Draw me Father, draw me
Draw me Father, draw me
Closer to Thy side,
I need Thy presence always
Be Thou, O Lord, my guide.
I need Thee, how I need Thee!
Every hour I need Thee,
I cannot live without Thee
Oh, stay close by my side.
Thank You for Thy presence
To comfort and to bless,
The love and joy and peace it gives
Brings lasting happiness.
Thank You Father, thank You
For Jesus Christ Thy Son
Who died upon that cruel cross
The victory to win.
It truly is a miracle which Thou O Lord hast done,
No human soul will ever know
The cost to Thee, the Holy One.
Wendy. 10.10.21
'For thine eyes shall see the Lord in a land that is a very far off'
Blessèd were those eyes that saw Him
When He walked in Galilee,
When He fed and taught the people
On the shore by the sea.
Blessèd those who saw Him lifted
When He shone as does the sun,
There on mountain high transfigured
Before Peter, James and John.
Blessèd those who saw Him risen
When the stone was rolled away,
With what joy those first disciples
Saw Him rise again that day.
But I know that I am blessèd
For I know that I will see,
Jesus, my Lord, in all His glory
In the place prepared for me.

Why Easter?
Staying close to Jesus
Staying close to Jesus is what I need to do.
Especially in this world He helps me through
Our world is suffering and in a lot of pain
Staying close to Jesus helps me over and over again
I need Jesus every single day,
To help me walk His narrow way.
Margaret.
Prophecy given by Mr Dunn at the end of his preaching in 1985.
Prophecy given by Mr Dunn at the end of his preaching in 1985.
I look
I look with eyes to Your Way.
But now they are closed as I must pray
I need to enter deep, get near
Take on peace, drive out fear.
To have a hold of Your wonderful presence
As Your sweet perfume leaves it's lingering essence
Lord I need You to work mightily day by day
The knowledge of Your love, pure Holy as crouched I lay.
My head and heart bowed and humble
As You draw me near so I won't stumble
Your outstretched arms, my haven, my rest
Close, blessed in You, for in that place I have the best.
Rosey. October 2021
A lockdown testimony
Birdsong, the cuckoo's call, nothing else, not a sound.
But Jesus is near His presence too can be found.
The solo walk I daily take, He draws me with His calming call
And I seek Him amongst His own creation as well as my home's brick wall
Bend my neck in true prayer for I long to seek
Long to be close, longing to feel His love as His servant meek.
Lengthy time spent alone makes us so aware of how our dependence on Him really spans out.
He’s the rock I strive to touch in prayer and when it's hard the enemy He will rout!
Oh, to easily express, thank and give Him all the praise
He's the One who's been there to meet our needs these endless days
Our comfort, our joy and all that keeps us in His will
The calming peace enfolds our hearts and that's a thrill
So until that day fellowship together can start
Praise Him for that peace, protection and our unyielding heart.
Rosey 10.6.20
Perfect, precious pure and Holy is Jesus Christ my Lord
Only in the stillness
Only in the stillness can my Lord be known,
In that secret, holy place where is hallowed ground.
There to wait upon Him, His will, His way to find,
The place where prayers are heard on High,
Where answers may be found.
"Draw nigh to Me" I hear Him say "and I to thee will come"
And show thee great and marvellous things, the wonders of my Heav'n.
But there the enemy of my soul with myriad thoughts assails
To keep me from that holy place where faith alone prevails.
Increase my faith my Lord, I pray that I might enter in
Daily, to this secret place, the victory to win.
"Be still and know that I am God" so oft' I hear Thee say,
I come Lord, to Thy blessed feet, Thy word I would obey,
For only here, within the veil, can God on High be known,
I come Lord Jesus, by Thy grace, to worship at His throne.
Wendy. 3.2.12
Only in the stillness
I love You, Lord
I love You, Lord so very much
You are so dear to me
Your love outshines the brightest star
And that love shines on me.
The Love of Jesus knows no limits
It's deepest depths cannot be fathomed
It’s the essence of our God
Such is the love of God.
Hail to Thee Thou blessed Redeemer
Hail Thou Son of God
Who brought salvation to Thy people
What amazing love!
Glory to the King of Kings
And glory to His Son
And glory to the Holy Ghost
All Three forever One.
Wendy 12.6.20
All my life I've loved You Lord
All my life I've loved You Lord
In good times and in bad,
Raised my voice to sing Thy praise
When happy or when sad.
Been a Martha all my life
Yet there is more I seek
To enrich my soul and fill my heart
And stretch my mind to Thee.
For all that awaits me day by day
As I long to walk with Thee.
For I long for the depths
That, that longing can bring
From that staying power
Right there at Thy feet.
That longing for more
Seems to stir up my soul
The receiving of promises
From long, long ago.
To fill me and thrill me
To know I'm Thine own.
Thy closeness to support me
On my long journey home.
For when darkness came
Thy light shone through
And I knew Thou was there
To lift and to comfort
With a peace so very rare.
Oh Heavenly Grace that keeps my soul
And fills me with such love
How can I ever thank Thee Lord
For blessings from above.
For re-assurance, strength and gain
That's only found in Thy Blessed Name.

Move my being from this seat
Rosey 1974
What a Holy God we serve
What a Holy God we serve
Let heaven and earth proclaim
The greatness of the King of kings
All glory to His Holy Name.
My Father whom I love
Is very dear to me,
His love extends to all the Earth
Including unto thee.
All praise to God on High
The God whom I adore,
Praise Father, Son and Holy Ghost
Both now and evermore.
In the darkness of our night
In the darkness of our night
Lord You are our only light
Shinning forth that we might see
We can put our trust in Thee.
Trust in You to lead the way,
Give us strength from day to day.
In the darkness of our night
Help us Lord to do what’s right
Show us Lord what we should do
Guide us Lord and bring us through.
You can see the way ahead
We can go where you have led.
In the darkness of our night
Help us Lord to win the fight,
Not despair but turn and find
That in You there’s peace of mind.
Jesus keep us close to You
Hold us tight and bring us through.
Jean 9.5.20
A very faithful, loving God is Jesus Christ my Lord
A very faithful, loving God
Is Jesus Christ my Lord
Who gave His life upon the cross
To bring us back to God.
"Let not your heart be troubled
Neither let it be afraid"
The words of my dear Saviour
To comfort those He loved.
To prepare a place in Heaven above
That we might be together
Is why the Saviour left His friends
That we might be with Him forever.
Glory to God in the Highest
Oh, praise Him ye children of men
For He has redeemed us through Jesus His Son
All glory and praise be to Him.
Wendy 21.06.20
A very faithful, loving God is Jesus Christ my Lord
O Lord I can see Your heavenly light
O Lord I can see Your heavenly light
Reflecting truth in the darkest night.
Christ the true foundation sure,
On Your rock I stand secure.
You are my strength and the truth divine
Jesus be forever mine.
Let me hide myself in Thee,
Let me rest secure and free,
Safe above life’s raging sea.
Shepherd show me how to go,
How to gather and how to sow,
I will listen to Thy voice’
I will follow and rejoice.
Then the truth triumphant rang,
When the stars together sang.
Sing, ye joyous children, sing,
Glorious is Christ our King.

As close as one's breath on the cold morning air
O Jesus my Redeemer
O Jesus my Redeemer
You are so good to me.
Your love I feel surrounding
Your peace it sets me free.
You are the Rose of Sharon
The King of Kings to me
For you came down from heaven
That we might be set free.
Your peace flows like a river
Into the heart of me
Stilling every worry
Setting my spirit free.
And as I wait upon You
I always seem to find
The joy and the contentment
You send to fill my mind
So draw me ever closer
That I might always be
Abiding in Your presence
And in Your love set free.

In times of trouble there’s a place
In times of trouble there’s a place
Where we can go and seek Thy face.
Where we can find Thy precious peace
And from our worries sweet release.
Lord we are weak but Thou art strong
We need Thy help to get along
That we may walk from day to day
Along Thy path and never stray
So keep us close that we may find
Worries and panic left behind
In Thee we find our perfect peace
And from our worries sweet release.
Jean 3/4/20
Holy, precious loving God
I love to praise and worship
Holy Father, Lord of all
Oh Lord I long to know Thee more
Only He can feed His people
Draw me closer
Like the softly falling rain
Like the softly falling rain
Jesus blessing comes again
Bringing me a peace so dear
Peace which can drive out all fear.
How we long to fell His touch
For we love our Lord so much.
How we need this latter rain
To fill our souls, make our way plain
Take from us sorrow and pain.
Lord help us to come, be still,
Turn to Thee and drink our fill
Give us peace and give us grace
To turn to Thee and seek Thy face.

Jesus is my Best Friend
Jesus is my Best Friend
He is my world.
He brought me out of this world of darkness
Into a marvellous light.
Jesus is my Best Friend
Died for me upon a cross at Calvary.
He gave His all for me
So I in return should give Him my all you see.
Jesus is my Best Friend
He has never, ever let me down
And He has promised to me
That I shall receive a crown and a white gown
A robe of righteousness and a crown of gold to wear,
When I go to meet Him in heaven up there.
Jesus is my Best Friend
He is everything to me,
He is my lifeline to hang on to you see.
Without Jesus in my life I would be lifeless,
He is my life, my all.
He is the Best.

The need for prayer
So many people in need of prayer
So many need to know you care
So many just don't know You're there
Lord, guide our hearts to pray.
There are aquaintances and friends
Who think that life just finishes, ends
Don't know of blessings that You send
Lord, guide our hearts to pray.
Guide us to pray within Your will
Help us to wait in patience, still,
Our waiting hearts with reverence fill
Lord, guide our hearts to pray.

I have spoken through My word
I have spoken thro' My word
And rich in spirit are those who heard
Who heard and heeded, longing to be fed
Partakers of the living bread.
My blessing on your life is pure
For I alone can open up the door
That leads to life eternal and true.
But those who enter are only few.
There you will enter into realms above
As I give great light through My great love.
Praise and worship will raise your spirit yet higher
In search of heavenly depths beyond the fire
Wherein you are tried and put to the test
That I may have only the best
From your life as you surrender and others can see
Your sweet and tender spirit
Becoming a likeness to Me.
One to be made a Holy, Godly seed
A branch off My vine from which you'll feed.
And at the end assurance is given through My love
That a crown of life waits for you above.

Thou Holy, righteous loving God
Thou Holy, righteous loving God
In times of trouble You are there
In times of trouble You are there
All my worries I can share
And know that you will hold my hand
And all my heartache understand.
I know that You will make a way
That I may walk through each new day
Trusting in my Father’s care
I know that You my burden share.
When the road grows steep and rough
We need to know Your help’s enough
To bring us through the time of trial
But sometimes we can take a while
When to us your help seems slow
And we don’t know which way to go.
Lord we know You will not fail
But the waiting we bewail.
Lord your plan I do not know
Cause my faith in you to grow.
I trust that You will answer prayer
For I know You’re always there.
My Father I love You because you first loved me
My Father I love You because you first loved me,
You gave your Son Jesus that I might be free.
His death on the cross has cleansed me from sin,
To the Holy of Holies has made the way in.
A beautiful life has been given to me
By His death on the cross upon Mount Calvery.
I thank You Lord Jesus with all of my heart
For your self-giving sacrifice and undying love.

Almighty God
Almighty God, I give to you my praise
I lift Your name up high always
Almighty God, I give to You the honour, the power
And the glory that You deserve.
Almighty God, it is You that I serve.
For You are God Almighty
And there is none other like You,
Almighty God, I thank You for what You say and do.
Almighty God, You are Holy and You are powerful and true.
Almighty God, I long to worship and adore You.
For You are God Almighty, and You are worthy of everything,
The praise the honour, the power, and the glory.
To You the King of kings
Poem by Margaret 17.2.18
O Lord Thou art enough
O Lord Thou art enough
Enough, enough for me
For Thou didst come
And give Thy life
Upon Mount Calvary.
O Lord Thou art enough
Enough, enough for me
For Thou didst come
And change my life
In you I am set free.
O Lord Thou art enough
Enough, enough for me
For Thou dost help me
Day by day
And walk alongside me.
O Lord Thou art enough
Enough, enough for me
Thou art my help
When troubles come
Thou art my victory
And so while life shall last
My song will ever be
O Lord Thou art enough
For all eternity.

Time spent with the Lord
Quiet, stillness and calm
Feeling the droplets of balm
Jesus lets flow to sooth our being
A salve to send worldly worries fleeing
He’s reaching out to you, reach back
His blessings are rich and leave no lack
His love is like that balm, it soaks to great great depths in our hearts
And I look to know His will for me in all its parts
His love holds the power to keep our peace
I thank you Lord for sweet release
So let the world rush on I want to stay
In those beautiful moments, a time to pray
My heart just wants to express my love
To Him my faithful Friend above

Quiet, stillness and calm
It shall be called BETHESDA
It shall be called ‘BETHESDA’, saith the Lord,
And in accordance with His blessed Word
Was sanctified and set apart, a place where
Kindred souls could come and seek His face.
For here upon this blessed hallowed ground
Miraculous deliverance would be found.
The sick made whole, the captives free
From all fetters that would binding be.
O blessed spot, the very gate of heaven,
And blessings in abundance freely given
To every soul who humbly seeks God’s face
And trusts alone in Christ’s redemptive grace.
Here poor souls in torment find release,
Instead of anxious fear, Christ’s perfect peace.
For on this place the hand of God doth rest
And those who truly seek Him will be blessed.
It shall be called BETHESDA
Thou righteous,holy loving God
Thou righteous, holy loving God
I worship and adore Thee.
My Lord, I bow down at Thy feet
In reverence, before Thee.
I love Thee, Lord, for Whom Thou art
The Son of God who did impart
Sweet life for me
When Thou didst die upon the Tree.
Oh,how I love Thee, precious Lord
Because Thou first loved me,
Thy sacrifice upon the Cross
Has given life to me.
Thou came to give abundant life
To show to us the Father
Whom to know is life indeed,
A very privileged honour.
Glory be to God on High
And glory to His Son
And glory to the Holy Ghost
All Three, Who speak as One.

Thou righteous,holy loving God
Poem written by Wendy when she meditated on the name of Jesus on 9th Oct 2015
So beautiful, so wonderful
The sound of Jesu's name!
Most precious name bestowed by God
On His beloved Son.
A name so full of love and joy
And peace beyond compare
Experienced by the saints of God
Who worship Him in prayer.
So sweet the name, it calms all fear
And soothes the troubled soul
But yet so strong
It puts to flight the enemy of man.
This name so strong portrays the Son
In whom is found God's glory
Oh praise Him all ye saints of God
And evermore adore Him.
There's life in that sweet name of Jesus
Let heaven and earth proclaim
The greatness of the Christ of God
Give glory to His holy name.
Interpretation of Jean J’s tongues by Helen S 25-11-12
It’s by My Spirit that the work is done. It’s by My Spirit that I will move over thee. It’s by My Spirit that thou wilt find the path that is straight, that will lead you in a way that’s straight. It’s by My Spirit that the moving will bless your soul and refresh you and change you. Trust in the Lord with all your heart. Trust in Him for He desires more to give than you do to receive. Trust Him and reach out to Him and He will give unto thee, He will give unto thee and you shall rejoice and have life that is worth living, life that is giving to others of living water that others might drink and receive and be refreshed because of the life that comes by the Spirit of the living God. Oh trust in Me and reach out for there is a way. There is no death, there is a way of life. There is.
Tongues and interpretation.
These are ‘twin’ gifts, given by the Holy Spirit for the encouragement, teaching and when necessary the correction of God’s people. Speaking in tongues may be for praise, in which case it does not require interpretation. The person speaking is using the gift to express thoughts and feelings which they could not otherwise express. However, in some cases the speaker will know that a message is being given. A second person receives the interpretation (often even before the tongue itself is given out) and should hopefully have the courage to speak it soon afterward. In such cases the two should be able to agree that the interpretation was correct. Note that an interpretation is just that and not a word-by-word translation - the style and wording used may be those of the second speaker, but the meaning of the word is given. Helen S has received and given out many faithful interpretations of Jean J’s tongues over many years and that above is made available here that you may be encouraged. As with all God’s promises it specifies a condition which must be met - but it is not hard and the promised blessing is great beyond words. In any language.
There is a peace which comes from God
Which only He can give;
A peace to calm the troubled breast,
A peace in which to live;
A peace so deep within your heart
It makes your soul rejoice
And sing to Him, from deep inside,
With heart and soul and voice.
O, turn and look to Him for rest,
Look into His eye,
For when your heart is full of Him
He’ll lift your spirit high.
In lifting you your soul will rise
To greater plains above
For He does want to bless your soul With joy and peace and love.

Sweet Jesus Lord and Saviour
Draw thy chosen people home.
You have called us and have blessed us,
We need never be alone.
You’re our shield in times of trouble,
You’re our shelter in the storm.
You’re our fiery cloudy pillar,
That will guide and lead us on.
Many years You now have led us,
Though we often turn aside,
Yet we turn again to Thee Lord
For Thou art our only guide.
O Lord Jesus Thou hast kept us,
Kept us walking in the way.
Though we’ve seen so many wander
You’ve not let us go astray.
But You’ve drawn us ever onwards
Though we linger on the way,
Though we are so slow to follow
There’s no place that we can stay.
For where others find contentment,
We find we don’t belong,
For Thy Spirit calls and draws us
And makes us to move along.
So this day we give You glory
For the way You’ve led us on,
For the way You’ve kept us going
Kept our souls from going wrong.
For often in our hearts Lord
We’ve asked why can’t we stay,
Why must we keep on going?
For we tire along the way.
Yet deep down in our souls Lord
We desire the higher ground.
We desire a closer walk Lord
Where we know You can be found.

A Prayer
O Lord I long to know Thee more
This is my fervent plea
To know Thee more, to love Thee more
That I might worship Thee
O Spirit of the living God
Open my eyes to see
More of the beauty of my Lord
Who gave so much for me.
I thank Thee Lord
For the light You’ve given
For the joy that fills my heart
For the comfort of Thy presence
When with Thee I come apart.
Teach me Thy way and lead me on
In the path of truth and light
Be Thou my strength and be my stay
Through all the trials of life.
Increase my faith, for this I pray
That I might bolder be
Telling the world of Jesus
Who gave His all for me.

Meditation given at breaking of bread in DInnington
See the body broken on a cross of wood
See the red of that precious blood
The quietness of the heart beating within
The Son of God who took my sin
His cry to his Father up above
The expression of the man who died in love
We come to you now, our hearts bowed low
Knowing the peace that only God’s children know
More than this within flows a love divine
Remembering now as we take bread and wine
The symbols from that last supper in age gone by
Pictured through vision or our own minds eye
He gave his all, he gave absolutely everything
May we this night our own hearts bring
Afresh, anew seeking a walk more close and true
Privileged and honoured to be among a chosen few
Whose desire is to do that which pleases God
To follow in the way that Jesus trod
Fashioned in likeness, hearts no longer of stone
But bowed low, kneeling at this throne
Praise you Lord for the remembrance of Calvary’s cross
Bless you Lord for taking the dross
Thank you Lord we can come to thy feet
And there in true holiness our Saviour we meet
Rosey, April 2012
It's good to feel Your presence Lord
It's good to know You're near
In these days of busyness
Your moving is so dear
Reminding us of love and joy
Reminding us to rest
Reminding us to seek Your face
And in return You bless
You're always close, near, by our side
We've just to turn and seek
We've just to look to You for rest
And in our heart to speak
But as we rush and chase around
As things get in between
We forget to give You time
Forget what might have been
Lord, come to each of us today
Give peace and rest and calm
Grant a sweetness in each heart
Instill Your healing balm
Pour out Your Spirit helping us
To give to You what's due
Help us bring glory to Your Name
In everything we do

I saw the nail prints in your hand
Stillness in Thy presence, Lord
Is what's required, if we
Would come into the Holy Place
To fellowship with Thee.
No place on Earth's more beautiful,
A haven in the storm,
Engulfed in love, and joy and peace
And awe-inspiring calm.
No earthly words are needed here,
Just worship from the heart,
Resting at our Saviour’s feet
As with Him we come apart.
Only in the stillness
Canst Thou, O Lord, be known,
In that precious Holy Place
There, with Thee, alone.
Teach us how to be still Lord,
In the busyness of life,
For we long to be, more often, here
Away from earthly strife.
Wendy Connerton 14-7-16
Wendy's poem 2-9-16
Where are the words upon this Earth
To praise so great a God?
This miracle-working, caring God,
This God of supreme love.
There are no words on earth enough,
No fitting words I find
To magnify the God of Heaven,
It's far beyond mankind.
I stand in awe before my Lord
For I cannot take in
Such greatness, power and majesty
While in this earthly realm.
This powerful, righteous holy God
So loved mankind He gave
His dearly loved and only Son
That all men might be saved.
To have a people was His plan
To love and worship Him,
A people in His image made
To fellowship with Him.
Christ gave His life upon the cross,
The perfect Lamb of God
Whose sacrifice redeemed mankind
And made the way back to God.
Now God will have a people
Just as He had planned
Who'll love and worship and adore
And live with Him for evermore
Lord Jesus how I need Thee
Every hour of every day
Need Thy guiding hand to lead me
As I walk along life’s way.
Lord Jesus how I need Thee
For I dare not walk alone
Send Thy peace to bring me comfort
Keep me straight, don’t let me roam.
Lord Jesus how I need Thee
For that fellowship divine
When I meet with Thee my Saviour
And I drink of that new wine.
So Lord Jesus draw me onwards
Keep me close to Thee always
Then in peace and great contentment
I will worship and give praise.

Glory to God in the Highest
Come Lord Jesus
Come Lord Jesus, come I pray
Visit us now and have your way
Guide us and comfort, speak to our soul
Visit us now and make us whole
Come, Lord Jesus, our will is your way
Help us to heed the words You say
Direct our footsteps along Your path
Keep us safe is what we ask
Come Lord Jesus , we praise Your name
May we never be the same
Bless us Lord as we lift our voice
As in Your presence we now rejoice
